Dear writing reader,

right words

It happened to me. I got stuck. I was typing along in my story and all of a sudden I realised that the story was wrong. Problem was… what was wrong? Where did it go wrong?

Have you ever found yourself in such a tight spot? It’s not pleasant there.

I kept looking and staring and prodding, changed bits and bobs, and it remained wrong. The story didn’t get worse, it just refused to become right.

If you get into such a fix someday, I can recommend my solution: pack up the story and ask a friend (in my case a fellow writer) to please read the story and ask her or him where s/he feels the story becomes confusing. Because that will be where your story goes wrong. It’s not always obvious where the words took a wrong turn because when you wrote them they made sense. Somewhere in a story however they can unmake their sense, without of course telling you, and then the problem comes along.

Do yourself a favour and trust your fellow Indie writer. Ask for help if you can’t figure it out. It will save you time and frustration.
