Nanowrimo, writing and amazement

For those of you that missed it, November is the month of Nanowrimo🙂  Among other things.

And I for one, love the Nanowrimo.  It’s one of the few times I get to let loose and create the things that make me truly happy.  I love to write, but the amount of time I spend supporting others, and supporting my own career.  But November is when my stories get to fly.

Writing though, is amazing.  I’ve often said that I don’t create, I uncover.  I love to work with words and shape and mold and find stories underneath it all.  And that’s the joy I’ve got for the whole month.  My goal this month is 500,000 words.  A crazy goal, I know, and I know I’m not going to reach it, but we’re four days in and I’m close to 27,400 words.  Which is an incredible amount.

But I did want to touch on Amazement.  With a capital A.

Amazement is what we’re in the business of.  Amazement is what we sell to readers every day.

But more than that, it’s what we discover in our stories, and in the connections we make in the worlds around us.  And creating connection and pattern is what we do best.

Tell us about your Nanowrimo adventure in the comments!
